A Contest for Norfolk’s Grade 8 Students

 


The 200th birthday of Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald, will be in January of 2015, and to commemorate this special occasion the Eva Brook Donly Museum is challenging Norfolk's grade 8 students to creatively respond to the topic, "SIR JOHN A. MACDONALD:  THE MAN WHO MADE CANADA".  Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each of three categories and entries will be accepted at the museum until March 20, 2015.

 

Contest Rules  

 

  • Contest categories are: essay no longer than 750 words, audio-visual presentation no longer than 10 minutes, artistic interpretation in the medium of your choice.

  • All work must be original; a short bibliography must accompany the submission; an artist’s statement must accompany an artistic interpretation.

  • All essays should be submitted in word processed format, if possible.

  • One entry will be accepted per grade 8 student in Norfolk County (public, Separate, home-schooled).

  • All entries will be accompanied by an entry form and waiver signed by the parent/guardian.

  • Winners in each category will be determined using a set criteria list that will be posted on the museum website (www.norfolklore.com) after December 1.

  • Submissions will be accepted from January 12, 2023 until the contest closing date of March 23, 2015. Winners will be notified in April, 2015.

  • Submissions can be given to your classroom teacher for delivery, submitted online at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , or hand delivered to the museum at 109 Norfolk St. S., in Simcoe.

  • All entries will be on display at the museum at a date to be determined. Entries can be picked up at the museum after winners are announced.

Prizes

All entrants will received a complimentay one year Junior Museum Membership

A first, second and third place prize will be awarded in each of the categories.
